MMCBD Chief Administrative Officer Gives COVID Update

(Beaver Dam) Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam Chief Administrative Officer Angelia Foster says Dodge County is heading in the wrong direction when it comes to COVID. She says in the last ten days there have been 2,600 new cases in the county along with high numbers of hospitalizations and deaths.

Foster also encourages everyone to take care of themselves and recommends good hand hygiene and mask wearing when around those that are not your immediately family.

She recently told WBEV that even though vaccinations can be an unpopular conversation to have, getting the shot is effective. Foster says since the first of the year, 80-percent of those admitted into the hospital are unvaccinated. She adds that 90-percent of those who have died of COVID at their facility since last June did not receive a vaccine dose.

Foster says the younger population are the most at risk right now, noting that within the last seven days there have been over one-million new cases nationwide of kids testing positive. She says it is important to protect those five-and-under who are still not able to get vaccinated.
