MMCBD Cancels COVID Vaccination Clinic

(Beaver Dam) Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam is cancelling Wednesday’s COVID vaccination clinic. Hospital officials say out of an overabundance of caution, they will pause providing the Johnson and Johnson vaccine as recommended by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration. Both health organizations recommend pausing distribution of the Johnson and Johnson shots due to six reported cases in the U.S. of rare and severe blood clots that may be linked to the vaccine. A total of 6.8-million doses of the vaccine have been administered in the U.S. If a person develops a severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain or shortness of breath up to three weeks after receiving the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, they should seek care immediately. For those who have received the Johnson and Johnson shots and would like more information, they are encouraged to call the hospital’s hotline at 877-998-0880. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine has made up 3.7-percent of the total vaccinations Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam has administered. The hospital still has appointments available for the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. To schedule an appointment, call 855-908-5029.
