Milwaukee Man Gets Probation For Dodge County Police Chase

(Dodge County) A Milwaukee man was placed on probation for two years Thursday for running from authorities in Dodge County. Javier McCants entered a guilty plea to one felony count of Fleeing an Officer. The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted a traffic stop after McCants was observed in September of 2017 speeding on Interstate 41 in the Town of Lomira. The 22-year-old pulled over and the trooper discovered that his temporary license plate and title were expired and belonged to another vehicle. A tow truck was called but before the vehicle could be attached the suspect drove away. The tow truck driver had to jump out of the way of the fleeing vehicle and McCants nearly struck a truck pulling a boat as he entered the traffic lane. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 90-miles-per-hour and was called off after two miles. McCants was spotted the next day by a Washington County sheriff’s deputy and fled again at a high rate of speed by passing cars on the right-hand shoulder. In addition to probation, McCants will have his licensed revoked for six months.
