Meat Animal Sale A Success

8/18/17 – The Farm Progress Arena was packed for last night’s 55th Annual Meat Animal Auction at the Dodge County Fair.

In the Market Beef Auction Braydon Lewke of Beaver Dam sold his Champion Beef for $3.75 a pound to CPS. Ian Spoke of Waterloo had the Champion Diary Beef which went for $2.75 a pound to Wondra. Alexa Manthey of Iron Ridge had the Reserve Champion Beef which went for $2.75 a pound to Spuncast. Jason Stebnitz of Reeseville got $2.50 a pound from Jung Seed Genetics for the Reserve Champion Diary Beef.

The Market Lamb auction followed the beef. Waupun’s Emily Schwanke got $5.00 a pound from Markesan State Bank for her Grand Champion Market Lamb, while Ty Thorson of Columbus got $4.75 per pound for his Sale Champion Homebred Lamb from Universal Cooperative. Quad Graphics bought a Reserve Champion Market Lamb for $4.25 per pound from Beaver Dam’s Anthony Kuenzi, while Nicholas Voight of Juneau sold a Sale Reserve Champion Homebred Lamb to Kreuziger Drainage for $4.40 a pound.

The Market Hogs finished off the auction as Andy Boschert of Beaver Dam got $4.75 a pound from Quad Graphics for his Supreme Champion Market Hog. The Champion Barrow, brought by Kaitlyn Schwanke, went for $3.75 a pound to Truck Country. Matthew Kohl of Waterloo had the Reserve Champion Gilt which sold at $3.75 a pound to WS Ag Center and Morgan Justmann of Lowell sold the Sale Reserve Champion Barrow for $7.25 a pound to Asphalt Seal and Repair. The highlight of the night was Wyatt Stowell selling his Gilt Hog for $9.50 a pound to Papa Murphy’s which drew applause from the crowd in attendance.
