(Mayville) It will be less expensive to get a liquor license in the city of Mayville this year. The common council adopted a resolution that reduces the cost of a Class B liquor license permit in 2020 by 50-percent. Mayor Rob Boelk says the reasoning is two-fold: to help area bars and liquor establishments that have been financially burdened during the COVID-19 health crises and that these establishments have not been open in months with no exact timeframe on when they will open again. He says it would not make sense to require businesses to pay full rates for their license. The change makes the cost of a liquor license $237 while a beer license costs $87.
