Mayville Voters Approve Golf Course Referendum, Retain Mayor

(Mayville) Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk withstood a challenge from two write-in candidates to secure another term. Boelk picked up 963 votes, good for 79-percent of ballots cast, while Jennifer Thoreson earned 237 and Tyler Winter-Vogley got 19. Meanwhile, voters in Mayville approved a non-binding referendum asking citizens what they want done with the city-owned golf course. Seventy-eight percent of voters say the city should sell the course with a deed restriction that only allows for the land to be used as a golf course. It also states that Mayville would have the right to repurchase the land at the original sale price should there be a proposed change in land use. The taxpayer-funded golf course has been in operation for 80 years.
