Mayville Man Charged With Child Sexual Assault Arraigned

(Mayville) A Mayville man accused of having inappropriate contact with a minor was arraigned this week. Charles Rash entered a not guilty plea to three felony counts including First-Degree Child Sexual Assault, Child Sexual Exploitation, and Possession of Child Pornography.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Rash’s residence on September 8th after receiving a Cyber Tipline Report of suspected child porn. During the search, authorities searched Rash’s phone and reportedly found evidence that he had sexually assaulted a child.

According to the complaint, there were videos of Rash performing sex acts with the victim who was born in 2019. Police allegedly found that Rash would send the videos to other users on the social media platform KIK. When questioned about the content officers located, Rash reportedly said (quote) “it was one time” and “it was an accident.”

The 24-year-old also allegedly said he was hoping that the victim was young enough not to remember. If convicted, Rash faces up to 125 years in prison.
