(Mayville) A Mayville man was arrested after reportedly stabbing another individual over the weekend. Just before 3am Sunday, the Mayville Police Department responded to the 100 block of Allen Street.
Officers found Salvador Meza-Gonzalez of Mayville with cuts to his head, neck and hands. The 29-year-old was transported by Mayville EMS to Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam and then to UW Hospital in Madison where he is recovering from his injuries. Meza-Gonzalez told authorities that he met his attacker at a local tavern earlier that evening.
Mayville police were able to develop suspect information with assistance from neighboring agencies and the state crime lab. Chief Jim Ketchem says they located the suspect hiding in a chest freezer in the basement of his residence in Mayville at around 11:20am the same day.
Hensy Gabriel Cortez-Hernandez was taken into custody and was transported to the Dodge County Detention Facility. Ketchem says charges are being requested through the District Attorney’s Office for Aggravated Battery. He says that this was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the public.
