(Mayville) The Mayville Common Council adopted the 2020 city budget Monday night. The 2020 document calls for roughly $8.9-million in total expenditures with a tax levy of $2.7-million which is roughly $42-thousand-dollars less than last year. The mill rate of $8.32 per one thousand dollars of assessed value is a 44-cent drop from the number homeowners saw last year. Mayor Rob Boelk says since becoming mayor four years ago the tax rate has dropped by 99-cents which he credits to growing development. Boelk says the budget puts the city of Mayville in a good place moving forward. He says at the end of 2020 their debt will be down to $3.2-million which is right where the city needs to be. Boelk also thanked the hard work from his staff that helped shape the budget.
