Mary Martha “MeMe” Jacobs

Our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Mary Martha “MeMe” Jacobs, 70, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Sept. 19 after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 14, 1953, to Richard & Martha Jacobs at St. Joseph Hospital in Beaver Dam, WI.   Mary graduated from Douglas McCarthur High School in Saginaw, MI.  She was an excellent student and a member of the National Honor Society.  She graduated with honors from Michigan State University.  She also received an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Macomb Community College and a Master’s in Finance from Edgewood College.  Mary enjoyed a successful work career, employed by AC Nielsen, Madison Gas & Electric, Unity Church (Madison) and American National Bank.

Mary had an infectious spirit, making the lives of people close to her better with her kindness, love, wit, friendship and constant humor.  “You can’t beat fun” was her mantra, coined by her grandfather, Edward H Jacobs.  Her laughter, teasing and quirkiness were thoroughly enjoyed by all who knew her.  Mary was very spiritual.  She had a forgiving soul and a strong faith in Jesus.  She will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by Rosemarie LaRue, best friend and soul sister of 50 years, Detroit, MI; Richard Jacobs (brother) Beaver Dam WI, Mary Esther Jacobs (sister-in-law) Beaver Dam, WI, Robert (Patti) Jacobs (brother) Freeport, IL, Paul (Julie) Jacobs (brother)La Crosse, WI  and Anne (Mark) Heuer (sister) Beaver Dam;  ten nieces and nephews: Martha Herdendorf, Marie Compton, Hank Jacobs, Michael Jacobs, Kathryn Jacobs, Paul Jacobs, Michelle Jacobs, Hannah Krause, Jacob Heuer, and Emma Hein; , great-nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by Edward C. Jacobs, Martha A. Jacobs, Richard F. Jacobs and Terese A Jacobs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 Spring St., Beaver Dam, Wi, October 3, 2024 at 11:00 am. There will be a memorial gathering at church prior to mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
