Mary L. Luckas

Mary L. Luckas, age 87, died peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Charter Senior Living of Verona.

The memorial gathering will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Monday with Fr. Will Arnold officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Peter Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Mary Lynne was born on January 6, 1937 to Clarence and Marie (Brown) Coon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Pius High School in 1954 and furthered her education, graduating from Alverno College in 1958. Mary started her teaching career in Milwaukee’s school system, teaching at Custer High School and North Division High School. While at North, she met Albert F. Luckas, another fellow teacher at the school. They were united in marriage at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Milwaukee on August 18, 1973. Eventually, they made their home in Beaver Dam where she taught at U.C.P.S. Catholic School and later, Beaver Dam High School. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed to sew and knit. She was a master bread maker and found pleasure in making a homemade meal for her family rather than going to a restaurant. Mary was active in her community, especially with St. Katharine Drexel Parish, and served Meals on Wheels for many years.

Mary is survived by her; children, Bert (Melissa) Luckas of Verona, Emily (Mark) Mujwid of Chetek, E. Stephen Luckas of Milwaukee, and Ruth (Kevin) McCluskey of Brownsburg, IN; grandchildren, Albie and Gilbert Luckas, Austin, Anastasia, Armada and Mujwid, Mary Lynne, Patrick, Timothy, Peter, and Michael McCluskey; nieces and nephews, Donna Reindl, Bob Barber, Bruce Barber, Jeff Barber, Kevin Barber, David Shotola, Mike Shotola, and Lynne Shotola; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Patricia Katzfey.

Memorials may be made in Mary L. Luckas’ name to St. Katharine Drexel School.
