Mary Jane Glassman

Mary Jane Glassman, 85, a life-long resident of Beaver Dam, WI, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Suffolk, Virginia on May 20, 2019.

Visitation for Mary will be at St. Katharine Drexel Mission Hall in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 11:30 a.m.  Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.  After the cemetery service, there will be a luncheon at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home Community Room.

She was born August 13, 1933 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Victor L. and June (Arndt) Heimerl.  In 1951, Mary married Andrew (Tom) Glassman.  They were married for 63 years until his passing in 2014.  Mary and Tom owned and operated Glassman’s Roofing in Beaver Dam, WI for most of their married life.

Mary, an avid gardener, spent many hours working in her yard. Mary and her husband Tom wintered in Key West, Florida where she loved to fish and scuba dive. She spent many happy times with her daughters and sisters. Mary had a special knack with children and had a very special and enduring relationship with her grandchildren. She loved animals, and had a special spot in her heart for her dogs. Mary walked with the Lord her entire life.

Mary was the beloved mother of Dianne (William) Fashun, Beaver Dam, Thomas (Floribeth) Glassman, Naples, Florida, Judith (David) Delonga, Suffolk, Virginia; grandchildren Scot (Angela) Fashun, Elizabeth (David) Mahdasian, Sarah (Timothy) Kranz, Jared Glassman, Jazlyn Glassman; great grandchildren, Tyler and Summer Fashun, Nishan, Alec, and Nadya Mahdasian, Heidi and Natalie Kranz; great-great grandchildren, Lilly, Tyler and Elijah Fashun; five sisters, Janis (Richard) Mack, Carol (Jim) Sroor, Judy (Ted) Hart, Gloria (Wayne) Slade, Joyce (Joe) Jansma; and two brothers, William (Carolyn) Heimerl and Robert Heimerl. Mary was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Norma (Neil) Torti and Audrey (Harry) Braun; two brothers, Francis (Caroline) Heimerl and Victor (Janet) Heimerl; grandparents, Francis and Lydia (Dorman) Heimerl and George and Julia (Thomas) Arndt; sisters-in-law; Carolyn Heimerl, Janet Heimerl, Barbara Ganske, Mary Schears and Betty Garzynski; brothers-in-law; Neil Torti, Harry Braun, Jim Sroor, David Heft, Louie Ganske, Phillip Garzynski; her aunt, Marie Indermuehle; and two uncles, Felix (Jeanette) Heimerl and Elmer (Marian) Heimerl, several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Dodge County Humane Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
