(Beaver Dam) The interim Chief Administrative Officer of Marshfield Medical Center Beaver Dam has been named to this year’s list of “60 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know,” by Becker’s Hospital Review. Joe Gilene is on the list that features leaders dedicated to advancing health care in small towns and rural communities nationally. Gilene came aboard in Beaver Dam in March 2019 and guided the hospital through its affiliation with Marshfield Clinic Health System, which was finalized in May, and during the ensuing integration process. Gilene’s demonstrated history of enhancing strong integrated systems and achieving excellent operational and financial results has proven valuable to the organization over the past 11 months. Gilene says it is an “honor to be recognized” and calls it a reflection of the hard-working, dedicated and professional staff we have at Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected leaders through an editorial review process where a number of factors were considered, including awards received; local, regional and national leadership positions held; and their organizations’ recent performance. Nominations were also considered.
