Marshall Ready To Defend Eastern Suburban Crown

The Marshall High School football team is ready to defend their 2021 Eastern Suburban Conference title with a plethora of new faces.

The Cardinals graduated a senior class full of playmakers off of last year’s squad that finished a perfect 7-0 season in league play.

“There’s certainly a lot to replace but we are not disappointed with what we have coming back.” Coach Matt Kleinheinz told DailyDodge.com.  “We bring back four of our five offensive linemen. We bring back a lot of kids from our defensive box.  That certainly is going to help us a lot.  Our JV team had a nice season last year.”

1st team All-Eastern Suburban Conference fullback Matthew Motl returns after a sophomore season that saw him rush for a team high 799 yards and 12 touchdowns.  On defense, inside linebacker Erik Ayala, outside linebacker Ramon Compos and Motl on the defensive line also return as first all-league picks.

The Cardinals open up their season on Thursday, August 18th when they head to Johnson Creek.
