Marshall Man Sentenced To Year In Jail For Fleeing Police

(Waupun) A Marshall man was sentenced Monday to one year in jail with work release privileges for running from police in Dodge County. Vincent Artis plead no contest to a felony count of Fleeing. A misdemeanor charge of Obstruction was dismissed but read into the record. Last July, a Waupun police officer spotted a vehicle going 81-miles-per-hour travelling south on Highway 151. Artis eventually pulled to the side of the road and was asked to present his driver’s license. Shortly after saying he had his ID, Artis accelerated away at speeds ranging from 105 to 116-miles-per-hour. Officers with the Beaver Dam Police Department successful deployed spike strips near Highway B which disabled Artis’ vehicle. During a high-risk traffic stop, the 32-year-old refused to comply to with police commands but was eventually taken into custody.
