Marshall Man Accused Of Fleeing From Dodge County Authorities

(Waupun) A Marshall man charged with running from police in Dodge County made his initial appearance in court Monday. Vincent Artis is facing a felony count of Attempting to Flee an Officer as well as a misdemeanor charge of Obstructing an Officer. On Friday, a Waupun police officer spotted a vehicle going 81-miles-per-hour traveling south on Highway 151. Artis eventually pulled to the side of the road and was asked to present his driver’s license. Shortly after saying he had his ID, Artis allegedly accelerated away at speeds ranging from 105 to 116-miles-per-hour. Officers with the Beaver Dam Police Department successful deployed spike strips near Highway B which disabled the Artis vehicle. During a high-risk traffic stop, Artis reportedly refused to comply to with police commands but was eventually taken into custody. If convicted, the 31-year-old faces over four years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,500 and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
