Marshall Girls Look To Get Back To State

The Marshall girls basketball team is one victory away from a trip to the WIAA Division Three State Girls Basketball Tournament after picking up a 62-35 Sectional Semifinal win over Lodi on Thursday night.  The Cardinals (22-3) will host Lake Mills (22-2) on Saturday at 3pm in Cambridge.

Marshall, champions of the Capitol South Conference were ranked #4 in the final Wissports.net Division 3 Coaches Poll and is looking to return to the state tournament for the 3rd time in four seasons.  The Cardinals won WIAA Division 4 state titles in 2018 and 2019 before falling in the Sectional last season.

Lake Mills won the Capitol North Conference with a perfect 8-0 mark and are ranked #5 in the final Wissports.net Division 3 Coaches Poll.  A trio of seniors lead the L-Cats in scoring in Taylor Roughen (13.9),  Vivian Guerrero (10.8), and Julianna Wagner (10.2).

Marshall picked up a road win a Lake Mills 61-58 back on February 2nd.  Laura Nickel led the Cardinals with 18 and Mya Andrews had 16.  Ava Wollin paced the L-Cats with 15.
