(Waupun) A Waupun man has announced his candidacy for Dodge County Sheriff. Mark Colker is a 24 year law enforcement veteran and started his career following service in the U.S. Marine Corps. Colker says he is eager to address the county’s varying and increasing needs in issues such as addiction, crime, and traffic fatalities.
He says he pledges to devote his tenure as sheriff working collaboratively with the District Attorney’s Office, local police chiefs, as well as other agencies. Colker says the position is about teamwork with the community, families, businesses, and law enforcement.
In a Facebook post, Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he has not yet announced his candidacy. He says (quote) “the county does not want their sheriff campaigning for the next term so far from the election.”
A primary election is scheduled for August 9th. The general election will be on November 8th.
