Marc “Bucks” Zuelsdorf

Marc “Bucks” Zuelsdorf, age 68, died Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Randolph Healthcare Services after battling ALS.


There will be a memorial gathering at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.


Marc Steven Zuelsdorf was born on February 17, 1953 to Roland and Lilah (nee: Kovalaske) Zuelsdorf.  He graduated from Horicon High School in 1971.  On March 3, 1973, he was united in marriage with Gayl Genzmer in Horicon.  Marc’s parents owned and operated Horicon Marsh Boat Tours and Marc began taking tours out at age 11.  In 1994, he and Gayl purchased the business and operated it until 2019 when Covid, and ultimately health, forced them to close.  Marc also worked as a carpenter in the off seasons for many years.  Marc was a firefighter in Horicon for 45 years and served as Captain for over 15 years.  He drove school bus for Johnson Bus for over 35 years and really enjoyed driving the Horicon teams to their away events, especially the football team.  Marc also worked the chain-gang for the Horicon football team’s home games.  Often on Friday nights, Marc could be found enjoying a fish fry at the Legion Hall.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.  Marc was a life-member of the Horican Marsh Bowmen’s Club and enjoyed his Thursday evening Archery group.  He served on the Horicon Park Board and on the Horicon Marsh Education Center board.


Survivors include his wife, Gayl of Horicon; three children, Stacy Zuelsdorf (Mark Tesch) of Horicon, Stephanie (Mike) Utz of Beaver Dam, and Kyle Zuelsdorf of Horicon; two grandchildren, Ella Sommerfeld and Kadyn White; his mother, Lilah Zuelsdorf; eight brothers and sisters, Paula (Ed) Brockner of Beaver Dam, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Zuelsdorf of Sheboygan Falls, Christy (Corby) Seboe of WA, Terry (Sandy) Zuelsdorf of Burnett, Jona Luckey of Beaver Dam, Lee (Jessica) Zuelsdorf of Fond du Lac, Kurt (Carol) Zuelsdorf of FL, and Ward Zuelsdorf of Burnett; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Jill) Genzmer of Horicon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Marc was preceded in death by his father; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Jerome & Lorena Genzmer.


The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to ALS Closet for their on-going support in Marc’s time of need, especially Robin and Dave, and to ALL the staff at Randolph Healthcare Services for their tireless care attending to Marc’s every need.


Memorials may be made to the family and will be distributed between several charities.
