Man Rescued After Losing Kayak In The Horicon Marsh

(Mayville) A duck hunter stranded in the Horicon Marsh was rescued Friday afternoon. The Mayville Fire Department was dispatched by auto aid for a fire call with Kekoskee Fire Department and Rescue. The hunter lost his kayak while picking up decoys and water filled his waders. Authorities say in these cold temperatures, it quickly turned into an emergency situation. The Mayville Fire Department responded with their boat and ice rescue team. A watercraft was also requested from the Horicon Fire Department due to the possible icy conditions. While authorities were enroute, a fellow hunter returning to the boat landing was able to pick the hunter in trouble and he was transferred over to the rescue team downriver. The man was taken to the landing where Mayville EMS continued with patient care.
