MacMurray Film Festival: ‘Sing You Sinners’ Screened Wednesday

(Beaver Dam) There will be a special screening on Wednesday of a comedy musical movie starring Fred MacMurray. Sing, You Sinners will be shown at the Beaver Dam Community Library. MacMurray grew up in Beaver Dam and stars in the 1938 film alongside Bing Crosby, Donald O’Conner and Elizabeth Patterson. Local Historian Roger Noll says the movie includes numerous musical numbers as MacMurray, Crosby and O’Conner try their luck on a sure thing in an effort to help their widowed mother. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Noll explained that MacMurray got his start in Hollywood thanks to his musical talents. He says MacMurray sang in roughly seven of his first ten movies before going on to be one of the great leading men of the Golden Age of Cinema. Sing, You Sinners will be screened at 3pm this Wednesday at the library. At 2pm, a screening of an episode of the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour will be shown, it features MacMurray and is titled “Lucy Hunts For Uranium.”
