6/28/17 – The City of Waupun has a new police chief. Deputy Chief Scott Louden, who had been serving as interim, was sworn in by the Common Council at their meeting last night. Louden has been a police officer for 17-and-a-half years with nearly his entire time spent in Waupun. He says it is an honor to be named chief and work with a great community filled with great people. Louden says he would not have gotten where he is without the help and support of coworkers and friends, including former chief Dale Heeringa. The vacancy was created when Heeringa retired after serving over 41-years with the department. Mayor Julie Nickel says Louden was the perfect choice. She says Louden nailed it in a 90 minute interview and has the respect of his fellow officers. Louden says he promises to work hard, be detected, and to keep the community safe.
