Long Time BD Firefighter to Retire

(Beaver Dam) After more than 26 years of public service, the Beaver Dam Fire Department is announcing the retirement of Captain Paul Hartl.  Joining the department in 1995 as a paid-on-call firefighter, Hartl was promoted to paid-on-call Lieutenant in 2000.  Later He was hired as a full-time career firefighter in 2004 before ultimately being promoted to the rank of Captain in 2010.  Notating just a few of his accomplishments over his career, Captain Hartl was one of the first members of the department to obtain his paramedic license.  He also played a pivotal role in the departments EMS program serving as its director since 2010.  Additionally, he has served the greater Dodge County area with his service on the Dodge County EMS Association and as Chair of the MPTC Fire/EMS Advisory Board.

Hartl wrote in his retirement letter, (quote) “This has been absolutely the most rewarding career I could ever have wished for. I truly appreciate the opportunity I have had to serve my community for the last 26 years. The Beaver Dam Fire Department provides an outstanding service to the community, and I am proud to have been a part of it”.  Captain Hartl’s last day of service will be on January 6th, 2022.  Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to the Beaver Dam Fire Department at noon that day to celebrate his retirement.
