Local Unemployment Rates Staying Fairly Level

1/28/17 – December unemployment rates locally and statewide were fairly unchanged from the month prior.  Dodge County reported a 3.3% jobless rate last month, which is up one-tenth from November but down seven-tenths from December 2015.  Columbia County’s 3.1% in December was the same as the month prior and eight-tenths below the same month in 2015.  In Jefferson County, the unemployment rate stayed level from November to December at 3.5%, which is four-tenths less than December 2015’s rate.  Fond du Lac County weighed in at 3% last month, up one-tenth from November but down six-tenths from the previous December.  Washington County’s 3.1% in December was the same as the month prior but three-tenths below the final month of 2015.  Green Lake County again had our listening area’s highest jobless rate at 4.6%, which was up three-tenths from November but down nine-tenths from December 2015.  Statewide, the December unemployment rate came in at 3.7%, up one-tenth from November but down five-tenths from the previous December.  Last month, Wisconsin reported a jobless rate eight-tenths below the national average.
