Local May Jobless Numbers Better Than April

(Dodge County) Unemployment numbers in the region are reflecting a positive trend seen around the state with a respectable decrease in May, after April numbers skyrocketed due to the pandemic. Dodge County dropped from 11.1-percent to 9.6-percent, good for the eleventh lowest rate in Wisconsin. Fond du Lac County went down nearly four percentage points to 11.3-percent. Green Lake County fell over five points to 13.2-percent. Columbia County reported an 11.5-percent, Washington County a 10.8-percent and Jefferson County 9.9-percent, all decreasing around two-percent.  Taylor County had the lowest rate in the state at 7-percent while Menominee County had the highest at 31.2-percent. Every county in the state has a higher rate than last year. The seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in Wisconsin last month was 12-percent while the national rate was 13.3-percent.
