Local Historian Offers Program On History Of Beaver Dam Schools

(Beaver Dam) The public is invited to attend a presentation tomorrow Tuesday night that will provide an in-depth look at the history of Beaver Dam schools. Local historian Roger Noll will discuss the evolution from the cityโ€™s first one room school house to the current Beaver Dam Unified School District. Noll says this has been one of the hardest presentations he has had to prepare due to varying disagreements such as how many schools there were and there exact locations. Other topics that will be discussed include the private schools of Wayland and Hillcrest School for girls, the four parochial grade schools – Saint Peteโ€™s, Saint Mikeโ€™s, Saint Patโ€™s and Saint Stephenโ€™s – as well as Beaver Damโ€™s vocational schools. During last weekโ€™s appearance on WBEVโ€™s Community, Noll said following the presentation a film will be shown of Beaver Dam schools from 1938 as well as footage from various Homecoming parades during the 1960โ€™s. The program will begin at 6pm tomorrow in the basement of the Beaver Dam library.
