Layoffs Announced At Marshfield Clinic Health System

(Marshfield) Nearly 350 employees at Marshfield Clinic are out of a job this week. In a press release on Wednesday the health care system said 346 employees have been let go and over 500 vacant positions will not be filled – with leaders blaming high inflation and skyrocketing labor costs.

Impacted workers will be given job-hunting resources, or the system will try to guide them to other openings that they may be suited for.

In a statement, CEO Doctor Susan Turney said reducing staff is always painful but this is ultimately about preserving the long-term efficiency and sustainability of their organization. The layoffs represent about three-percent of Marshfield Clinic’s 12-thousand employees in Wisconsin.
