Large Fish Kill Reported Along Rock River In Waupun

8/23/17 – The Department of Natural Resources says a large fish kill in Waupun was likely caused by runoff following a heavy rain. Waupun Police fielded several calls last week about numerous dead fish located near the dam in Mill Pond. The DNR told Waupun officials that an investigation was conducted. A Fisheries Biologist took statements from witnesses and water samples from the Rock River throughout the city. As of Monday, the DNR reports that all level appeared normal for the river.  A source for the run off was not able to be determined. Fire Chief BJ Demaa forwarded the incident to the Environmental Protection Agency because the river feeds into the Horicon Marsh. The Department of Public Works is working on cleaning up the dead fish.
