(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man has filed declaration of candidacy papers with the city clerk’s office in the spring race for mayor. Alan Winter is a Korean War veteran who was a past state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Winter says his objectives, if elected, would be to repair streets; investigate additional affordable and elderly housing; stop frivolous spending on unneeded projects; upgrade taxi services and investigate funding for a second fire station. Candidates in the spring election can start circulating papers on December 1. As of 4:30pm Monday, nobody else has filed declaration of candidacy papers for mayor or any of the aldermanic positions appearing on the April 7th ballot. All paperwork must be submitted by close of business on Tuesday, January 7th.
