(Mayville) Mayville’s new police chief was sworn-in on Monday. Jim Ketchem had served as a lieutenant in the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and recently challenged Sheriff Dale Schmidt to take over the county’s top law enforcement position but lost during the primary election. Ketchem, whose first day on the job was yesterday, says it was a fun day and is excited to work with his fellow officers, city council and citizens. He says he has an open-door policy and welcomes all questions or concerns from the public. Ketchem’s salary will be $75-thousand dollars and he will serve a six-month probationary period with a review to be conducted following the six months. The terms include a three-week vacation period which will be prorated with his start date. Former Mayville Police Chief Ryan Vossekuil left in July to take the same position with the Jackson Police Department.
