Jury Convicts Beaver Dam Man Of Threatening Police

(Beaver Dam) A Doge County jury Thursday convicted a Beaver Dam man of threatening police. Michael Nelson was found guilty of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer and Discharge Bodily Fluid at a Public Safety Worker as well misdemeanor charges of Bail Jumping and Disorderly Conduct. Beaver Dam police were called out to the 200 block of Seippel Boulevard last July following a domestic disturbance. While Nelson was not located at that time he was later spotted near North Spring Street. As officers attempted to take him into custody, the 34-year-old made multiple attempts to avoid being secured in handcuffs and repeatedly shouted derogatory statements towards police. As Nelson was being placed in the back of a squad car he spat in the face of an officer and said (quote), “if I catch you on the street all of you are going to get shot up.” A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered and Nelson will be back in court in the next 75 days.
