Juneau Teen Makes Initial Appearance In Court On Child Porn Charges

(Juneau) A Juneau teen made his initial appearance in court Tuesday on charges he possessed illicit images of children. Jeremy Slayton is facing 10 felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography. A Dodge County sheriffโ€™s detective began investigating an International Crimes Against Children complaint last month. According to the criminal complaint, multiple illegal photos were uploaded to a Dropbox account reportedly tied to Slayton. During the detectiveโ€™s investigation, he had been in intermittent communication with Slayton who had filed for employment with the Dodge County Sheriffโ€™s Office. An interview with the 19-year-old was set up for Monday under the guise to discuss his interest in an open jailer position. When questioned, Slayton denied making or placing images in a Dropbox account but he allegedly recalled pop ups and reminders to make the account. Detectives reportedly found images consistent with child pornography during a search of Slaytonโ€™s laptop. If convicted, Slayton faces up to 250 years in prison. Cash bond was set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 23rd.
