Juneau Council Approves Police and Fire Purchases

4/12/17 –  The Juneau Common Council Tuesday night approved several items for the fire and police departments. The police department is getting a new Ford Interceptor utility vehicle to replace an aging Crown Victoria. Total price-tag for the squad car and internal equipment including the radio, lights, sirens, cage, computer and weapon mounts is just under $50-thousand dollars. The police station is also getting four new cameras at a cost of around $8000 for use in the interview room, evidence room and in the lobby where the department’s drug drop box is located. The fire department meanwhile is getting three new sets of turnout gear for $2200 each while $10-thousand is being spent on forcible entry equipment and various water rescue items including life vests.
