Judge Rules Mayville Fleeing Suspect Not Competent For Trail

(Hubbard) A Dodge County judge has determined that a Mayville man charged with running from authorities is not competent to stand trial. Kyle Wiese is facing a felony charge of Fleeing. A deputy observed a northbound vehicle on Highway 67 driving nearly 20-miles-per-hour over the posted 55-mile-per-hour speed limit in the Township of Hubbard in July. The deputy activated his emergency lights but the vehicle accelerated away. As the pursuit headed towards Mayville, the vehicle was clocked going in excess of 90-miles-per-hour and at times near 100. Law enforcement continued to pursue the vehicle as it fled through Kekoskee, then towards Brownsville and eventually terminated the chase when the suspect entered Fond du Lac County. A DOT records search of the vehicle’s license plate allegedly tied it to Wiese. According to the criminal complaint, authorities learned that the 22-year-old made contact with relatives who assisted handing him over to authorities. If convicted, the charge would have carried a three-and-a-half years prison sentence.
