Judge Rules Against Law that Ended Collective Bargaining

The Walker administration is promising an appeal of yesterday’s judicial ruling in Dane County Circuit Court. Judge Juan Colas ruled against almost all of the law backed by Governor Scott Walker which effectively ended collective bargaining rights for Wisconsin public workers. The law made Walker a national star for the conservative movement and has been in effect for nearly a year. Judge Colas ruled the law is null and void because it is unconstitutional, both on the state and federal levels. He says it violates the equal protection clause. The governor’s office issued a statement calling the judge a “liberal activist.”
