Joyce Burmeister

Joyce Marie Burmeister, age 87 of Oshkosh formerly of Waupun, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh.

Joyce was born on September 18, 1930, in Wauwatosa, WI, a daughter of Samuel and Dorothy (Anderson) Fehr. On July 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to William Burmeister Jr. her greatest gift was caring for others. Her parents and parents in law received loving care in her home. Joyce was a CNA at the Waupun Christian Home for 35 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary at Waupun Memorial Hospital where she worked in the gift shop and knit baby sweaters and layettes. She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught confirmation, planned Christmas pageants, sang in the Choir and served on the Altar Committee.

Joyce was passionate about her hobbies which included gardening, knitting, writing poetry and baking, she was especially known for her lemon meringue pie.

Joyce is survived by three children, Kathleen (Frank) Bellaire of Oshkosh, William (Pat) Burmeister, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH, and David (Stacey) Burmeister of Sun Prairie; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike) Kops and Nathan Bresser; four great-grandchildren, Carson and Madison Kops, Elisa (Michael) O’Meara, and Theresa (Jock) McDougal; a brother, Dr. Douglas Harry Fehr and his partner Ann; a sister-in-law, Louise Hoffman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; a sister, Dorothy (Harold) Arkwright; a brother, Dr. Fred Samuel Fehr and a brother-in-law, William Hoffman.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Eden Meadows for their tender care over the past 18 months.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun.

A funeral service for Joyce will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Kohls Community Funeral Home with Pastor Karen Jewell officiating.

A memorial fund has been established in Joyce’s name.

Kohls Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.
