John B. Hiscox, 65, died on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at 4 p.m. at Abbott Northwestern
Hospital. Prior to his death he resided at 208 2nd Street SW, Montgomery, MN 56069
Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at Watertown Moravian Church,
510 Cole Street, Watertown, WI 53094. The celebration will start at 1 p.m. and be an open house till 4:00pm. A light lunch will be furnished so come and help us celebrate his life with stories and memories.
Interment will be held at Elkhorn Cemetery, Milledgeville, IL at a later date.
John was born on March 27, 1954 to Orval Joseph and Anna Ruth (Hartsel) Hiscox in
Freeport, IL. He attended Mount Morris High School and Sauk Valley College and Southern
Illinois University, all in Illinois.
He married Karen Sue (Millhouse) Hiscox on December 8, 1973, in Clovis, NM. He
served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sgt. Maintenance Management Specialist from September 18,
1972 to September 17, 1977.
John worked as the safety director for Trucking Industries, retiring on March 27, 2019.
He was a board member of the Mount Morris Camp and Conference Center, and a vice
president of the Montgomery Historical Society. He also belonged to the V.F.W. Post 5340 and
the American Legion Post 79.
He was also a member of the board of the Northfield Moravian Church, and on the
board of the CEC Board of Western District.
An accomplished string instrument musician and lover of music, John was also a
member of the Chance Meetings Band and the Back Porch String Band.
John was a beloved husband to one, dad to two, father to many & friend to everyone. His jovial spirit and fun-loving jokester attitude was a steady presence of peace and joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His love of music drew him to wonderful community wherever he was. Whether in Illinois, Wisconsin or Minnesota he was always surrounded with beautiful people, life-giving music, and enough laughter and joy to last many lifetimes over.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Montgomery; children Jennifer Ann Hiscox (and
significant other, Brian Bohner and his daughter, Destiny) of Rochester, and Christopher John
Hiscox of Los Angeles, CA; mother-in-law Anna Mary Millhouse of Mount Morris, IL, brother-inlaw, Allen (Jill) Millhouse of Mount Morris, IL; niece, Rebecca (Rick) Heuerman of Aurora, IL and
their daughters, Lexi and Lia; and nephew, Jacob Millhouse of Dixon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Anna Hiscox; brother Larry Joseph
Hiscox, father-in-law Robert Millhouse and sister-in-law, Blenda Jean Williams.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund to be determined will be set up.
