Inmate Accused Of Smuggling Drugs Into Prison

5/2/17 – A Milwaukee man is accused of mailing a controlled substance to an inmate at the Fox Lake Correctional Institution made his initial appearance in court yesterday. Calvin Brown Jr. is facing one felony count of Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. Last December, Brown allegedly mailed strips of the opioid-drug Suboxone to his son who is incarcerated in Fox Lake. According to the criminal complaint, prison phone transcripts monitored the 63-year-old Brown and his son discussing different methods for mailing the drug into the facility. If convicted, Brown faces up to three years in prison. Bond was set at $1,000 dollars. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 15.
