Improvements To Highway 49 In Fond Du Lac County To Start Monday

(Brandon) Improvements to Highway 49 in Fond du Lac County is set to begin next week. To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Tony Evers signed a $307-thousand contract to improve one-mile of the highway in Brandon from County Road TC to the western village limits. Work includes milling two-inches and paving two-inches of existing roadway, pedestrian curb ramp replacements, spot curb and gutter replacement, and pavement marking. State transportation officials say the project will improve the pavement surface which will reduce surface roughness and provide a smoother driving surface for motorists. It will also extend the life of the existing pavement. Highway 49 will remain open using lane closures and flagging operations in the work zone. There will be short durations when access to side streets and driveways is restricted for pavement operations. Transportation officials say the contractor will notify property owners 48 hours in advance of any driveway restrictions. The project will start Monday and is slated to be completed in early September.
