Illinois Man Leads Authorities On High-Speed, Drunk Driving Chase Into Dodge County

(Rosendale) An Illinois man is in custody following a two-county, drunk driving police chase that started in Rosendale early Sunday morning. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop for a speeding violation around 1:46am on Highway 26 at Olden Road in the Town of Rosendale.

The suspect fled at a high rate of speed southbound on Highway 26. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed on Highway 26 and again as the vehicle continued southbound onto Highway 151 into Dodge County. The vehicle’s tires began to come apart in the southbound lanes of Highway 151, as he entered Dodge County. As the subject took the southbound exit to return to Highway 26, the vehicle entered the ditch and crashed, damaging a sign.

Two passengers remained inside while the driver fled on foot; he was apprehended a short time later. The 25-year-old Illinois man is facing charges of felony Fleeing, first offense Operating While Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, Speeding and Passing in a No Passing Zone. The two passengers, each 27-year-olds from Illinois, are facing marijuana possession charges. The pursuit reportedly reached speeds of 109-miles-per-hour, covering nearly 20 miles. There were no injuries stemming from the pursuit.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Waupun Police Department, the Waupun K9 Unit, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
