We talked about Macadamia Nuts, Wisconsin experiences and announced that BRENDA YOUNG was our August Apron contest winner. Recipes: Polka Dot Peach Pie, Polish Cream Cheese Coffee Cake, Mozzarella & Tomato Appetizer, Grilled Tea-Glazed Drumsticks, Tea-Poached Cod and Earl Grey Cookies.

 

Wednesday, September 5th:

Small Victories, one of the most beloved cookbooks of 2016, introduced us to the lovely Julia Turshen and her mastery of show-stopping home cooking, and her second book, Feed the Resistance, moved a nation, winning Eater Cookbook of the Year in 2017. In Now & Again, the follow-up to what Real Simple called “an inspiring addition to any kitchen bookshelf,” more than 125 delicious and doable recipes and 20 creative menu ideas help cooks of any skill level to gather friends and family around the table to share a

meal (or many!) together.

We talked about the History of Quaker Oats, the History of Waffle House Restaurants (and waffles), Cheese Pizza and other Pizza holidays and I shared some tailgate recipes using frozen meatballs. Thursday, September 6th:

Phatty the cat loves nothing more than spending his days balanced atop his favorite chair gazing out his windows at Central Park below. Everything is simply fan-tabby-lous until one day when the meanest hawk in the park lands on his terrace and makes a terrifying announcement that he is coming for Phatty and his furry little friends.

Today I talked about my bookcase/library project, science experiments, book I would re-read; books that have become my “favorites” so far this year (Norwich, Bright as Heaven, Marcel’s Letters, Meet Your Dog, She Loves You) and ways to use lemons for cleaning and health purposes.
