Hustisford School District Seeking Community Input

(Hustisford) The public is asked to give their input on th10e biggest facility needs in the Hustisford School District. Community planning workshops have been scheduled to discuss things such as building improvements as well as cover the district’s master plan. The first workshop was held Wednesday at the Junior/Senior High School.District.

Administrator Heather Cramer says about 50 people turned out and highlighted several key areas that need updating. She says one identified need is the heating and cooling, noting that the elementary school still as the original boilers from the early 1970’s. Other areas include school safety, the high school’s roof, flow of traffic, windows, fixtures, and furnishings.

Cramer says if the community shows support for going towards a referendum, that could be on the ballot during next year’s spring election. She says the planning over the next several months is crucial as a question will need to be ready for adoption by the school board in mid-January. Cramer adds that the goal is by December, the community planning group will have a proposal ready to present to the board.

The next workshop is scheduled for September 28th beginning at 6:30pm at the elementary school. Childcare is offered and refreshments will be provided. Cramer says the goal is to have a community planning workshop every two weeks. She says a survey will also be going out to the public in the coming days.
