(Columbia County) A hunter was injured in Columbia County on the second day of the nine-day gun deer season. The state Department of Natural Resources reported Tuesday that the 23-year-old male was shot in the foot in the Town of Marcellon. The victim was shot by a 24-year-old member of his hunting party, who was aiming for a running deer. The only other reported injury also occurred on Sunday and happened in Dunn County. A 21-year-old male, who was not wearing blaze orange, was working on his downed deer when he was hit in the arm by a bullet from a 17-year-old shooter who thought the victim was a deer. The victim was transported to the hospital and released. In the past ten years, the state has seen an average of three hunting incidents on opening weekend.
