Howard W. Spinler, age 78 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at home surrounded by family.

He was born to Violet (Hansen) and Henry Spinler, Sr., on July 18, 1945 on a farm near Sturgeon Lake, MN. He went to Rush City High School and graduated from the University of MN with a degree in agronomy. He was married to Judy Boorsma on December 26, 1970 in Randolph.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, and sons, Timothy and Mark, all of Beaver Dam. He is also survived by his brothers, Henry, Jr., of Winthrop, MN, Herb (Janet) of Crookston, MN; sisters-in-law, Joan (David) Bolender of West Bend and Dori (Ken) Schultz of Waukesha; and further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary; and other relatives.

Howard worked for Green Giant for 10 years, first at the plant at Fox Lake, and later at the Beaver Dam plant. For 25 years, he was a field man for the A.M. Todd Company of Kalamazoo, MI. He was the head of purchasing peppermint and spearmint oil in WI and later the Midwest. He loved this job: traveling, looking at crops, and talking to farmers. Many of these farmers became lifelong friends.

Howard was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Beaver Dam, where he served as an elder and volunteered in many capacities, including mowing the church lawn for several years. Howard was also founding member of the local Optimists, Inc. Club. He headed the poinsettia sales for many years and helped at many Rechek’s brat fries.

He loved to travel with his family. National Parks were his favorite destinations. In his early years, he enjoyed camping and biking. Playing cards, playing pool, and throwing horse shows were later hobbies.

A memorial gathering for Howard will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 215 Gould St., Beaver Dam, from 10:30 a.m until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Davis officiating.

If desired, memorials in Howard’s name may be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church.
