(Horicon) A Horicon teen is facing charges after a pursuit with a law enforcement ended with a crash in Beaver Dam. Sheriff’s deputies received a report around 4:30pm Wednesday that there was an erratic driver in Horicon and on Highway 33.
The complainant reported that the vehicle was operated on the front lawn of a residence in Horicon and the operator was driving into oncoming traffic multiple times on 33 between Horicon and Beaver Dam. A sheriff’s office deputy located the vehicle on 33 just outside of the city of Beaver Dam and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver, reportedly identified as Devon Hambly, immediately accelerated away. The 18-year-old lost control during the pursuit and crashed into a utility power box, several signs, and then multiple parked cars in the parking lot of McDonald’s on 840 Park Avenue in Beaver Dam.
Authorities say Hambly was removed from the vehicle by deputies and was immediately taken into custody. Hambly, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was the only one hurt during the incident. The teenager was booked into the county jail on charges of Fleeing and Resisting.
He was also arrested for OWI and Operating Without a Valid Driver’s License. Additionally, the Horicon Police Department will be requesting charges for operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
