Horicon National Wildlife Refuge Walking Trails Open

(Horicon) The Horicon National Wildlife Refuge “Tern” Pike Auto Tour and Walking Trails Complex is now open for the public. Since June, the trails have been closed due to road repaving and improvement project. The recreational area located about three miles east of Waupun was widened in several locations to improve traffic flow and wildlife viewing opportunities. In addition to the three-mile driving loop, there are also three walking trails including the Egret Trail, Floating Boardwalk and walking and bicycling access to the Wild Goose State Trail. The area is also re-opening right before the popular fall bird migration. The refuge is open during the daylight hours with no entry fee and dogs are welcomed so long as they are leashed.
