(Juneau) A Horicon man was convicted for running from police just hours after he was found guilty of the same crime.
Lonnie Ramsey entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Fleeing. His sentence was withheld and the 28-year-old was placed on three years’ probation. He must also serve a six month jail sentence.
Juneau police clocked Ramsey speeding as he was leaving the courthouse last September. Ramsey was there being sentenced on felony Fleeing charges that stemmed from a pursuit with Watertown police.
He was giving 18 months of probation in the case. As police activated their emergency lights, Ramsey accelerated away, reaching speeds in excess of 65-miles-per-hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone.
Ramsey also blew through several stop signs while being pursued. The chase ended when Ramsey’s vehicle struck a semi-trailer stopped at Highway A and Highway 26. Ramsey fled on foot into a corn field before being taken into custody without incident.
