(Beaver Dam) A Horicon man accused of initiating a pursuit with Dodge County authorities had cash bond set at $5,000 yesterday (Monday). Richard Hron is facing a felony charge of Fleeing and a misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A sheriff’s deputy was alerted just before 3am Saturday (September 10th) that a vehicle was heading west on Highway 33 with no headlights on. It was also swerving within its lane and crossing the centerline. After the deputy activated their emergency lights, the suspect vehicle turned on its own lights and accelerated away.
According to the complaint, the vehicle reached speeds of 75-miles-per-hour as it headed north on Highway 151 before stopping in front of spike strips that were deployed in the roadway. The driver, reportedly identified as Hron, was arrested during a high-risk traffic stop. He reportedly asked law enforcement what class felony this is. Authorities allegedly found a glass pipe while searching his vehicle.
If convicted, the 32-year-old faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 20th.
