(Dodge County) With much of the area seeing snow on the ground, and more winter weather on the way, the Dodge County Highway Commission is reminding residents and property owners about the safe removal of snow. In a recent press release, the commission shared that it is not only unsafe to push snow into the public highway or roadways, but it is also illegal. Adding, snow left on the roadway or shoulder areas becomes a hazard to motorists and snow removal personnel alike. The fine for a violation is $200.50, which Brian Field, Commissioner of the Dodge County Highway Commission, says can be avoided by simply being safe and responsible with all snow removal operations on or near a public roadway. It is also advised that snow removal equipment be equipped with adequate lighting when appropriate to provide safe visibility in all weather conditions.
