Saturday, October 3rd

Markesan (0-0) vs. Lourdes Academy (1-0) @ St. Mary Catholic – 5pm

It’s been a roller coaster week for the Markesan football team.   The Hornets postponed their season opener last week against Lourdes Academy because of COVID-19 issues in their district.  Then this week Pardeeville had to postpone their week 2 contest because of coronavirus issues in their district.  Lourdes Academy had their week 2 game with Johnson Creek postponed so the teams got together to schedule the game on Saturday night.  Markesan will have a lot of new faces in the lineup this season after qualifying for the postseason for the 6th straight time in 2019.  The Hornets do return Honorable Mention all-league quarterback Hayden Quade.  He threw for 984 yards and eight TDs during his sophomore campaign and also ran for 455 yards and seven scores.   Lourdes won the Trailways South last year and advanced to the Division Seven State Semifinals and are the favorite in the Trailways Conference this season.  After Markesan couldn’t play last week, Lourdes traveled to Bonduel and picked up a 34-6 win.  QB Josh Bauer threw for a pair of scores and ran for another in the win.   Lourdes is ranked #2 in the week 1 wissports.net Division 7 Coaches Poll.   You can watch this game on the DailyDodge.com videostream thanks to Columbus Family Dental and Ergo Bank.
